Popup Testbed – Our physical testing ground
Practical use cases in an industrial testing ground
Our Popup Testbed offers companies an industrial testing ground for realistic testing of new, innovative technologies under practical conditions.
✔︎ Physical ✔︎ Scalable ✔︎ Mobile

What is the Smart Systems Hub's pop-up test bed?
With our mobile pop-up test bed, we bring advanced manufacturing and industrial processes to exactly where innovation is needed – whether at trade fairs, events, or directly on site at companies. The mobile demonstration environment consists of up to seven sustainable wooden boxes and uses specific use cases to show how digital data rooms work in practice.
At the center is a physically constructed demonstration facility consisting of a fischertechnik model factory and a robot arm, which exemplify how digital data rooms work in real processes. Both systems are networked via a decentralized data room and interact autonomously. Guests experience live how status data from the virtual production facility – the digital twin – triggers process-relevant decisions.
For example, if the testbed detects imminent wear on the conveyor belt, service partners can access this information via the data room and automatically deliver replacement parts, arrange maintenance work, or send instructions to the worker. In the pop-up testbed, this is clearly symbolized by the movement of the robot arm.
This demonstrates the real added value offered by Manufacturing-X and digital data rooms – from transparent production to secure, autonomous data utilization.
